Since 2018, the Trust are working with KIND (Kids in Need and Distress), the National Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic England and Liverpool City Council to create a state of the art, eco-friendly cultural and educational centre to serve the local community and the wider Liverpool City Region.
Great progress had been made on the scheme with a successful application to the National Heritage Lottery Fund to secure funds to progress feasibility studies. Planning permission was granted for the KIND proposals in March 2022, however regrettably KINDs bid for Levelling Up Fund investment into the project was not supported and sadly the project had to be abandoned.
Recognising that the Trust is a facilitator rather than a deliverer, the Trust was keen to sell the site to a local organisation who would deliver the heritage regeneration scheme in the spirit of the KIND proposal. Subsequently, in 2022 the site was sold to Audsley Holding Limited who are now progressing proposals to secure the long-term future of this historic site.
The trust wishes Audsley every success in their goal to transform this historic site for the benefit of the local community.
